Kobzar Park in Timmins getting a new Shevchenko statue

The Ukrainian Cultural Group of Timmins' Kobzar Park Rejuvenation Project is one of great significance to the community there. Kobzar Park's old Taras Shevchenko monument has been vandalized beyond repair, and UCU is proud to contribute toward replacing the old monument with a brand new bronze statue valued at $17,000.

In addition to the statue, the park will undergo extensive landscaping and become a beautiful place to stroll and reflect, not just for Ukrainians but the entire Timmins community. New walkways, lanterns and garden beds will create a welcoming new home for the new Taras, designed by Tyler Fauvelle.

At a recent cheque presentation, Helen Yaschyshyn
(President of the Ukrainian Cultural Group of Timmins) accepted a donation
from Ukrainian Credit Union Limited representative Angela Andlar (left)
towards the Kobzar Park Rejuvenation Project.

We can't wait to see the renewed park, and perhaps one day stroll through it ourselves!
