69th AGM recap

We apologize for the late posting, but the last week has been a tad busy! Anyway, our 69th AGM went off very well. In addition to all the regular business and the traditional dinner, we also held an election to our Board of Directors which ended up giving us a couple of new directors!

A large crowd gathered at this year's AGM, perhaps in anticipation
of the elections to the Board of Directors
We also used the meeting as a way to introduce our new UCU Plus account for seniors!

Candidates were up for election in 3 different categories. First off all we have 5 candidates running for 4 "at-large" seats. The winners of those seats were Eugene Roman, Walter Drozdowsky, Walter Kish and Slawko Borys. Mr. Borys is a new addition to our board! New-comer Peter Dowhal did not gain election to one of the seats.

There was also one seat up for election that was available for a representative of the former So-Use Credit Union. Annie Mishchenko was re-elected to that position over Nestor Sanajko a first-time candidate.

Finally two seats were reserved for residents of the City of Hamilton, the Regional Municipality of Halton, or the Towns of Caledonia or Grimsby. Since only two candidates stood for election to those seats, Olya Sheweli ad Peter Szlichta, both won by acclamation.

After the AGM, the new board met to elect a chair. The new composition of the board is as follows:

Andre Sochaniwsky, Chair
Annie Mischenko, First Vice Chair
Peter Szlichta, Second Vice Chair
Jerry Pryshlak, Secretary
Eugene Roman, Immediate Past Chair
Walter Kish
Myron Oleksyshyn
Greg Adamowich
Walter Drozdowsky
Borden Osmak
Olya Sheweli
Slawko Borys
Michael Shipowick, Honourary Director
