Nine members of our credit union are running for positions on our board. Each day this week we will feature a few of them on our blog. The elections are being held at our AGM on April 23. For a view of all of the candidates, please visit the Candidates album on our Facebook page.

Olya Sheweli is running for one of the two (2) positions reserved for residents of the City of Hamilton, the Regional Municipality of Halton, or the Towns of Caledonia or Grimsby.

Olya Sheweli has been actively involved in the credit union movement for 25 years. She was first appointed to the Credit Committee of United Ukrainian Credit Union in 1988 serving three years – two of those as Chair.

In 1991 Mrs. Sheweli joined the Board of Directors of United Ukrainian Credit Union (UCU). From 1999 she sat on the Audit Committee and served as the committee’s chair for four years. Mrs. Sheweli was first elected as the Chair of UUCU in 2005 and served in that capacity until UUCU merged with Ukrainian Credit Union Limited (UCU) in 2012.
