Eugene Roman is running for an at-large position on the board.
Elected to the Board in 1995, Chair since 1998. Mr. Roman is a seasoned, hi-tech executive with 32 years of global experience in the IT, infocom, network design and R&D sectors. He has global experience in the infocom sector and was recently appointed Chief Technology Officer, Canadian Tire Corporation to oversee widescale digitization of stores across Canada. Before that he served as the Chief Information Officer at Open Text Corporation - a world leader in digital content technologies - where he was Chief Technology Officer. In this role, Eugene was responsible for global research and development, product development and IT. Eugene spearheaded the delivery of mobile content management systems and worked closely with customers to identify opportunities to streamline operations through technology solutions.
Eugene started his career in telecommunications and has worked for Nortel Networks Corporation and Bell Canada Enterprises Inc. In progressively senior technology and business roles in Canada, the U.S. and the U.K, Eugene was responsible for integrating critical technology and business processes to better deliver innovative programs. He has also led efforts to increase productivity and improve performance in order to deliver current and ‘next generation’ services more efficiently within a large organization.
Eugene holds a Master’s Degree in Administration, Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, is a Certified Management Accountant, and is a recent graduate of the Institute of Corporate Directors program. He is a frequent speaker on “The Future of Digital Content” and was recently appointed as a Distinguished Senior Fellow at the Munk School of Global Affairs at the University of Toronto, where he will continue his outstanding work in advancing innovation in Canada.
Mr. Roman brings over 20 years experience at the Board level in the credit union sector. Prior to serving on our Board, he sat on the Boards of St. Mary’s Credit Union and Community Trust.
