Vesnivka, Canada’s pre-eminent Ukrainian women’s choir, is celebrating its 50th anniversary. Founded in 1965 by Kvitka Kondracki, the Toronto-based choir is marking this musical milestone with an eventful 2015-2016 season that features a gala performance, a new recording, and a new way of sharing its music far and wide.
The choir has released a ‘Best of Vesnivka’ compilation, 50 Seasons of Song, which is available on iTunes along with five previous Vesnivka recordings. On March 20, the choir is officially launching its e-Library of Ukrainian Choral Music. The e-Library will enable choral groups world-wide to access and download its sheet music online. In sharing its repertoire, Vesnivka leaves a musical legacy for generations to come.

The celebrations continue in April, as Vesnivka prepares for a sold-out 50th Anniversary Concert on April 17 at the Glenn Gould Studio in Toronto. (Contact us to be added to the waiting list for tickets.) The program will feature works by prominent Ukrainian-Canadian composers including Zenia Kushpeta, Larysa Kuzmenko, Zenoby Lawryshyn and Roman Hurko.
The year-long celebration culminates in a formal 50th Anniversary Gala on May 7 at Toronto’s Palais Royale. The event will bring together current and former members, all well as volunteers and supporters.
Vesnivka is proud to count the Ukrainian Credit Union Limited among its long-time supporters, and thanks the entire UCU community for its generosity over these many years.
