One of our favourite bands asked us to post info about their upcoming show tonight and tomorrow, details below:
THE LEMON BUCKET ORKESTRA
ANNOUNCE SPRING TOUR DATES
PERFORM IN TORONTO AT
BRASH! A BADASS BRASS FESTIVAL
ON MARCH 11 & 12
Toronto,
ON – March 8, 2016 – The Lemon Bucket Orkestra have kicked off 2016 with
a bang! Following a World Album of the Year JUNO nomination for their 2015
release, Moorka, the group makes their return home for their
first Toronto shows of the new year – two nights at the Opera House for BRASH!
A Badass Brass Festival on March 11 and 12. The band will then hit the
road for a run of Western Canadian dates through April, including a performance
as part of JUNOFest (details listed below).
BRASH! will be an event like no other. Inspired by Guca, the
week-long trumpet festival in a village in Southern Serbia, renowned for its
loud parading musicians who compete for tips in the Rakia-soaked streets,
BRASH! will be the first festival of its kind in Toronto. Developed and created
by The Lemon Bucket Orkestra, the shows will be dedicated to loud horn playing
traditions of Eastern Europe, mixed with American big band, Colombian Cumbia,
and New Orleans jazz – a coming together of four raging brass bands from three
different cities. Full details and ticket info can be found here.
In
the last year, The Lemon Bucket Orkestra took home a Canadian Folk Music Award
for World Music Group of the Year and were named the best band in Toronto by
NOW Magazine. The group has captivated audiences around the world with their
super high-energy music and has been making waves in the theatre world with the
critically acclaimed interactive folk opera, Counting Sheep, based on the band
members’ first-hand experiences in the protests/revolution of dignity of 2014
and on the Ukraine/Russia warfront.
After
spending the end of summer 2015 on a three-and-a-half-month tour of Europe,
South Korea, and Eastern Canada, the group took a three-month break to wind
down, and now they’re back to showcase the guerilla-folk-party-punk antics they
are known for. Don’t miss them this spring!
