Cake Boss Watch Out - Member Appreciation Day in Windsor

UCU members Dennis Galay, Treasurer of UNF
Windsor Branch and Kathy Galay, member of the
Ukrainian Women's Organization of Canada
Following up on the success of Member Appreciation Day on Bloor (read about it here), we took our show down the road to Windsor. On Thursday July 7 members who walked into our branch were pleasantly surprised to find not only the usual smiling faces of our staff and warm hand shakes from Branch Manager Mike Kryworuchko, but sweets, varennyky, coffee and some nice gifts too!

UCU member Tony Blak, of Blak's Bakery,
poses with his sister Valerie Blak-Gill
and her husband. Blak's Bakery
generously helped out with sweeets at the
Member Appreciation Day!

Blak's Bakery provided the delicious sweets, while Crossroads Cafe served up three varieties of varennyky: potato/cheese, cabbage and blueberry (yum!). Both Blak's Bakery and Crossroads Cafe are new members of UCU and serve the large Polish community in Windsor (as well as Ukrainians and other Eastern Europeans craving for some old country comfort food). You can catch a video of Tony Blak making paczki (pampushky) in a video taken by the Windsor Star here.

Crossroads Cafe, a well-known Windsor
area deli provided 3 varieties of
varennyky for Member Appreciation Day.
You can read a couple of reviews here.

The event was held to thank long time members as well as to welcome a host of new members that joined the credit union recently.

If you missed this year's member appreciation day, you can still drop by for a coffeee with Mike Kryworuchko or the staff any time. Call ahead at 519-256-2955 and they might even have a sweet or two ready for you.

More pictures of this event can be found on our Facebook page. Look for the Member Appreciation Day celebration to visit your local branch in the coming months!
