Irena Fedchun - Candidate for the UCU Board of Directors

Irena Fedchun is the first (in alphabetical order) of four people running for election to the UCU Board of Directors whose bio we are featuring on the blog.

Elected to the Board in April 2004, Ms. Fedchun has held the position of Vice Chair since 2008. She joined UCU in 1971. Ms. Fedchun is the Director of Finance/CFO and Corporate Services at Villa Colombo Homes for the Aged and has spent over 10 years in various management positions in health care, including The Hospital for Sick Children and Baycrest Centre for Geriatric Care. She also spent over 10 years as Director of Finance and Administration in various technology companies such as MFXchange Holdings Inc. (a Fairfax subsidiary), Soltrus Inc. and CGI.

Ms. Fedchun volunteered with community organizations such as Plast, New Pathway (Ukrainian National) Newspaper, Sadochok, Pre-School Centre and Ukrainian Canadian Professional and Business Association of Toronto and the Ukrainian Catholic Women’s League, St. Nicholas Parish. She was a mentor in the York University East/West Enterprise Exchange and participated in various fund-raising activities with organizations such as Canadian Ukrainian Care Centre and the Salvation Army March of Dimes.

Ms. Fedchun, a member of The Society of Management Accountants of Ontario, is a Certified Management Accountant and holds a Masters of Business Administration, Masters of Science, Bachelor of Education and Bachelor of Science. She further completed the CUDA program for credit union directors and is a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors, having completed the Small and Medium-Sized Enterprise Board Effectiveness Program at the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto.
